I realize I'm very late with this posting...
Last Friday night I finally got to experience the interesting effects of the Miracle Fruit Berry. Armed with a laundry list of things to try whilest "tripping" my friends and I sat down to our miraculously fruity dinner party.
The Effect: I think Malcolm described it perfectly. It's like having a Splenda packet lodged in the back of your mouth. It added a degree of sweetness to everything we tasted.
Amalfi Lemons: Hearing that the acidity in tomatoes also did wonders with the fruit, I figured the Amalfi Lemons would be a good addition to the party. In reality they tasted about the same. Maybe a little sweeter. But nothing truly spectacular.
Tomato, Goat Cheese & Mustard Tart: First my pie crust was a little too heavy, but all in all the tart came out beautifully. The Goat Cheese tasted creamy and sweet, the tomatoes very succulent and the mustard? Well it just tasted like mustard. Good with or without the fruit.
Hot Sauce: Sucker was still hot & I nearly burned my tongue off.
In & Out Burgers: Added by Kevin, he had a simply orgasmic experience eating it. To him the tomato & the lettuce really popped with the addition of the fruit!
Scotch: Per Myra, still tasted like Scotch.
Red Wine: We started with a fairly dry red wine, but post fruit it tasted more like grape juice! Sort of wish we didn't use such a nice bottle, but eh... it was good.
Guinness: Now this was delicious! Bitter be gone, it tasted more akin to a frothy milkshake than anything else. I guzzled a bottle all by myself!
The best part of the night was when my Father... very confused as to what we were eating, asked my mom to pass him a lime. He bit into it, spit it out, and then leaned over to my mom & was like... "I don't get it? What does the lime do to the burger??" he did not have a fruit.
