After my friend Big Spoon, Little Spoon reviewed Shake Shack's Peanut Butter & Bacon Burger, I knew this was something on the must try list... And at a BBQ seemed like the perfect time.
I was sidetracked by Trader Joe's mini burger buns & opted for them instead of my usual potato buns slathered in butter, Shack style. I lightly seasoned the meat, hoping that the bacon & peanut butter would add the saltiness, but I think next time I'm going to add a little Worcestershire kick to the patty.
I used some good ole fashioned chunky peanut butter & instead of frying the bacon, we thought we'd try BBQing it. Which, while it did taste good, it kind of lost a lot of it's bacon-y characteristics. It was more smoky charred meat.
All in all, a very good first attempt. A nice outline for future experimentation!
