Perfect Pairing: Fresh Cocktails & Spitz Döner Kebab

I have been a fan of Spitz, Home of the Döner Kebab for quite some time... First, I simply enjoyed their well composed wraps, their crispy sweet potato fries, and their refreshingly delicious white peach & basil sangria which was perfect for an afternoon of wandering the streets of Downtown LA.  Later they made my taste buds explode with the introduction of their seemingly healthy (what, there's veggies) yet slightly gluttonous "street cart fries" topped with garlic aioli, feta cheese, diced onion, green pepper, tomato, kalamata olives, pepperoncini's and a sweet chili sauce, which is an absolute Must-Do when thinking about the LA Food Scene.

So what could make this place even better?

The addition of a liquor license... duh!  That's right, Spitz NOW HAS COCKTAILS!  Dammit, there goes my liver.  And New Years diet resolutions.  Oh well, what can I say... it's more than worth it.

The Spitz franchise, who's original location is in Eagle Rock, is owned by two rockstar Occidental College alumni Bryce Rademan & Robert Wicklund who kindly invited me to come check out their new line-up of fresh artisan cocktails designed by mixologist Kathy Casey.  Delicious cocktails are one thing, but here's what makes their cocktails even more special... their affordable price tag.  I love my aged and infused liquors like everyone else, but considering most of those drinks run $15 a pop, Spitz's refreshing menu priced entirely under $10 is a welcome addition to the downtown bar scene.

If there's one cocktail that's a must try, it's their Santorini Collins || apricot, lemon, date, fig and anise house infused vodka, fresh lemon & soda bubbles served with a boba straw so you're not struggling to scoop up the bits of alcohol laced fruit floating at the bottom of your glass. But honestly?  Everything we tried was fantastic. Bottom's up!
