Weekend Docket: 8/17/12

Whilst the rest of you are toiling away in Los Angeles, I'll be up here in Napa sipping on Chards & Merlots and eating delicious food at Ad Hoc, Auberge and the CIA.  So yep.  Be jealous.  Go ahead.

And don't worry I'll be back with more than enough time to recover from my wine-hangover to start it all over again at a fantastic weekend with the LA Times The Taste!

Sunset Strip Music Festival
Aug 16 - 18
This year the three-day music fest will celebrate the music and legacy of The Doors, with many artists performing their versions of the band's songs. It kicks off with an exclusive VIP event on Thursday night at the House of Blues and will conclude with anall-day street fest on Saturday. Marilyn Manson headlines the outdoor fest,which will also feature performances by The Offspring, Steve Aoki, Bad Religion, De La Soul, Dead Sara, Das Racist, The Mowgli’s and more. The street will be closed and the legendary venues in that block—The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go-Go and Key Club—will also host full lineups from more than 50 bands throughout the day. Poolside Pop-Up with Adam Gertler
Friday & Saturday 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Former Next Food Network Star contestant Adam Gertler and his brother Keith have teamed up to form Gertler's Kitchen, a pop-up concept featuring various smoked meats and sausages. The debut happens poolside at the Viceroy Hotel. Dive into the brothers' Reuben Dog, which features a unique pastrami sausage made with meat raised on a farm just outside of Los Angeles. Eagle and Badge Foundation Summerfest

Bring on the booze, food trucks, casino games, music and dancing. Doesn’t sound like something the LAPD would get behind right? Well for just this one night they will look the other way, while you drink, eat, and play casino style games at the Eagle and Badge Foundation 2012 Summerfest. Taking place at the Elysian Park Academy, near Dodger stadium, the night will feature drinks by Eagle Rock, Golden Road and Angel City Brewery, Maker’s Mark Bourbon, RumChata, Blue Ice American Vodka, Cielo Malibu Estate Wineyards, Woodstock Collection Fine Wines, and much more. Australia Rediscovered Wine Tasting

The third Sunday of each month the wine team of Campanile hosts a tasting event. The tasting will include 30 to 40 wines and are picked based on a theme. The best of which will show up on the wine list the following week.
